Fingerprint writing
As part of our writing and learning about each other we have done some fingerprint writing. Rachel is going to share how we did it and her finished piece of work.
It was done with ink and your fingerprint. We looked at our fingers with ink on them drew what they looked like. Then wrote in the shape of our fingerprint.

Spelling and Reading at home
Kia ora
This week we will be getting into our routines with Reading, writing and spelling groups. Please prompt your children to read to you and go over their spelling words. If they are not bringing home a reader from school there is still the expectation that they will read to or with you.
We are also starting Maths interchange so between 11.00-12.00 your child may not be in Room 10 but elsewhere.
Here's looking forward to a great week of learning.

Camp Raglan
We are back from a great Camp at Raglan. Some awesome memories were made.
The flying fox was the best because you could zoom down the hill and scream as you whizzed down,"Geronimo".
'Low ropes was fun as I could do the whole course without touching the ground,' said Lily
'I liked the confidence course because it wasn't too easy'. Madeleine
"The concert was fun as there were lots of funny things." Aarya
' I liked going across the water on the confidence rope'. Jayme
'The rocky shore was funas we found lots of different things there.' Madeleine
'Jack the Peg was funny because he had 3 legs and he had his wife's jeans.' Cam B
' I liked the rocky shore because I saw a hermit crab' Isobelle
' The confidence course was great as everyone got across the swing bridge.' Cam L
' We could do lots of things at camp, there were a lot of crabs at the Rocky shore.' Ryan

Reading bookwork
Thought I would share some of the children's bookwork they have done in Reading. Some of the activities that we have completed so far are closed reading where the reader guesses what word would go in a sentence when the word is missing. The children need to check the sentence makes sense, so it helps for reading for meaning. Another activity which is a pre-reading activity is the question. 'What words do you think may be in the story titled Undersea Gardens?' This helps children make connections with what they are about to read. Below is Lexin's, Ben's and Rachel's work.

Jayme's colour Poem
Check out Jayme's Colour poem
When I am sad I'm blue like the tears that drip down my face like a waterfall
Blue is like the clear sky thats up in the air with the beautiful sun.
I am blue like the clear water thats in the cool lakes.
I am a waterfall with blue water going down with a splash.
Blue is like the colour of our eyes.
our eyes glow because of the blue.

I am a waterfall with blue water going down with a splash.
